JUKEM FOOTBALL REVIEW AND GIVEAWAY!

We were visiting friends and they told us about this great game that the whole family loved! They said that it was a game where you were playing football and learning math!

JUKEM FOOTBALL!!

Jukem gave me a set of the Jukem Card Game. My brothers really like this.

The history of Jukem :

"Our History

"Jeff Spelman originally created Jukem Football as a fun way to connect with his own children and help them with their math skills. He had no intentions of doing anything more with it. But after sharing the game with friends and family at gatherings, and much urging and encouragement from them to “do something with this,” he and wife, Michelle, decided to “go for it.”

Originally called Quick Count Football, they brought the game to market just in time for Christmas 2007. From there, Michelle introduced the game in person to independent specialty retailers all over Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana. The game was quickly embraced by stores and won two prestigious national toy industry awards. Within six months of its debut, the game was available in more than 60 stores across the Midwest and Seattle.

Response to the game was overwhelmingly positive, but Jeff knew the game could be even better. The following year, he went back to the drawing board and expanded the original Quick Count game from one to two decks to accommodate more players, and added new cards to make the game more dynamic.

The game got a colorful makeover – new vibrant images on all the cards and a color coding system made the game more intuitive and visually appealing. Jeff and his team also gave the football game a fun new name: Jukem.

Soon, there were Fumble, Interception, Blitz, Kick Return and Pancake Block cards. The new defensive cards added more fun “gotcha” moments to the game. There was also a quicker way to advance downfield with the addition of Pass “range” cards. And, there was a new special powerful card which carried the new name of the game, Jukem.

Quick Count was a 54-card deck with two rule cards. Jukem Football now includes two 56-card decks (112 total cards), a colorful 20-page Official Playbook and a beautifully illustrated green gift box."

We met Jeff at the Chicago Toy and Game Fair. That was really nice. Jukem is a game that teaches math, you have good family time together, and it is fun!!
Here is a video of my brothers playing Jukem...

Here are the rules and how to play the game :
"OBJECT OF THE GAME

The object of Jukem is to outscore your opponent with touchdowns (seven points) and field goals (three points). To score a touchdown, a drive must total exactly 100 yards.

CHOOSE YOUR DECK(S)
Jukem can be enjoyed a variety of ways. You can play with either or both decks. The Jukem Rookie deck is the easy-to-learn version and introduction to the game. The Jukem Football deck is an advanced version with more defensive cards and expanded game play. For more offensive firepower and team play combine and play with both decks.

SETTING UP TO PLAY JUKEM
After shuffling the deck, begin by dealing each player four cards and place the remainder of the deck face down to create a draw pile. Turn the top card face up next to the draw pile to create a discard pile.

TURNS AND DRIVES
The player to the left of the dealer goes first. Begin each turn by drawing the top card from either the draw or discard pile. Using the cards in your hand, add an offensive play to your drive, face-up in front of you. Run cards are played alone. In order to complete a pass, you must play one Pass card

and one Catch card together with matching yardage.

  • Play – A play is made each time you add green offensive cards to your drive.
  • Turn – A series of continuous plays.
  • Drive – Offensive cards played face up in front of each player. A series of plays that can be accumulated on one or more turns and is not allowed to exceed 100 yards.

Each time you are able to make a play, replenish your hand back to five cards using the draw pile. Your turn continues as long as you are able to lay down another play on your drive. If you can no longer make a play, discard one card from your hand to end your turn. Leave your drive in front of you and continue to build it on your next turn.

Your turn ends when you can add no more plays to your drive, when you score, or when your opponent throws a defensive card. Do not discard from your hand if you score or if a defensive card is played against you.

DEFENSIVE CARDS

Defensive cards can be played against you by your opponent after you lay down a play but before you draw another card to continue your turn.

HALFTIME AND END OF GAME
When a player picks up the last card from the draw pile, they may make multiple plays from their hand in a final attempt to score. Once their turn is over, the half ends. Pick up all of the cards, shuffle and set up again as you did in the beginning of the game. The second half ends the same way as the first half. The player with the most points wins! If the score is tied, repeat the start of a half. First player to score wins!"

Here is a video I took. My brother did not realize that I was recording. It is really funny:D
