Trix Review/Giveaway

Hello Agents!

How is everyone doing this morning?  When we visited ChiTAG we received a new game called Trix, from Porcupine Press.  Well, lets start investigating!

Trix is a really fun (yes, addictive) word game.  I have to tell you... when I first pulled out Trix my little sis was a little reluctant to play with me.  She sat and watched while I set it up and read the instructions.  She needed a little help on how to play, but after the first round she said "okay, lets play one more round so you can get some more pictures.".  She started getting excited about it and we ended up playing until lunch.  She now thinks Trix is a lot of fun!

First you set out the three stacks of cards.  Blue - Person, Red - Action, Green - Place.  Somebody tries to find three cards (one from each section), that they can describe with just one or two words.

This is your board that you use when you pick three words, or when you are guessing the three words the other person chose.

Okay, my sister did this one.  I guessed that it was Church, Fear, and Priest, so I put my counters on the guessing board.  I was right!  :)

You win points if the guessers choose your cards correctly.  You get extra points if you can describe all three cards with one word.  So yes, the family does enjoy this game and thinks it is a lot of fun!

Was one of your New Years Resolutions to spend more time together as a family?  Whether it was or not, it sure is worth purchasing Trix for you and your family!

Trix is going to send 1 of my Agents a Trix game!  Make sure you enter below!

RESULTS OF INVESTIGATION...
Trix is a #1 Game!

CASE CLOSED!!!

I received no monetary compensation for this review/giveaway. I did receive product for review purposes only. All thoughts and opinions are mine. All text in red is taken from the sponsors website.

News, Updates, and Thank You!!

Hello Agents,

I just wanted to let ya'll know that overnight PI of Products will be getting a new look!  I designed a new background and header, and I will change PI of Products over tonight.  I think it looks really nice (of course I would think that since I designed it :).

During the month of January I want to focus on different games, activities, and things to do during the winter months (inside and outside!).  I have lots of great games all ready from our visit the ChiTAG in November that I am really excited to be sharing with ya'll.

Another thing I will do during the month of January is another Surprise Gift Box giveaway.  Several of you requested a spa/relaxation basket for moms, so that is what I will focus on.  I already have several products, and will be purchasing more during the month.

I have a couple of questions for my agents.

  1. Do you think I should do another month of photos?  Some of you seemed to enjoy it, while others thought that made too many photos on PI of Products.
  2. Do you think I should continue Mystery Mondays (my giveaway linky!)?  I enjoy seeing others' giveaways, and I think it gives my agents easier access.  What do you think?
  3. Do you enjoy recipes?  Do you think I should post some (maybe a couple times a month, or once a week, etc., or is that too much?
  4. Okay, if you have any other feedback for me (ANYTHING - if there is something that needs fixed, something you would like to see on PI of Products, or something that needs changed, etc.), please leave a comment or fill out my Feedback Contact Form.
Okay, PLEASE leave a comment and let us know your opinion!  It helps make PI of Products even better and easier for my agents.  I also wanted to say...

Thank you to all of my Agents!

You have helped make PI of Products what it is, and I have LOVED getting to know some of you.  So, thank you for everything, and please stick around and see what comes in 2014!

Modesty~

Commander-In-Chief is Great!

Hello Agents!

How is everyone today?  This morning I have another great product from ChiTAG!  We met Paul at ChiTAG, and he gave us one of his Commander-In-Chief Board Games to review.

Okay, most of you know that my family plays board games together several times a week, and we are always trying out new games.  So recently when it was time for games I pulled out Commander-In-Chief!

The contents of the box are 30 different playing pieces (2 Commanders, 4 Fighters, 4 Tanks, 2 Bombers, 4 Submarines, 4 Helicopters, 8 Amphibians, 2 Destroyers), 30 Platform Bases, 10 Aerial Platform Bases, 1 One Minute Sand Timer, 1 "Chess/Checkers/Commander-In-Chief Double Sided Game Board, 1 Commander-In-Chief Game Rules, and 2 Commander-In-Chief Quick Start Guides".

It didn't take long for H. and I to set up the game board, and then we got started!

The playing pieces are REALLY neat!  My little sister likes just playing with the pieces.  Some of the playing pieces are black, and some of them are silver.

"Commander-In-Chief is a game that is played warring two opposing armed forces represented by specially designed playing pieces that are mounted on Platform Bases and placed on a game board comprised of sixty four alternating dark and light colored squares arranged in eight lines of eight squares each, i.e., the traditional checkerboard. The square board is set up for play orientated in a diamond shape so that a dark colored square is always positioned at the top and bottom of the board, as the single square in the First row closest to each player’s seated position. Progressing toward the center of the board, the Second row per side contains two light colored squares; the Third row per side contains three dark colored squares, and so on and so forth."

The objective of the game is to "Capture Your Opponent’s Commander  Or To Outscore Your Opponent  Over An Arbitrary Period Of Time  (10, 20, 30 Min., Etc.)  The Battlefields Of The Game Are Through The Air, On Land And In The Sea Multiple Game Play Options Are Available  For Commander-In-Chief Including Team Game Play"

Here are the basic instructions..."Commander-In-Chief is a strategy war game for two (to four) players. To begin play, one player (team) selects the dark and one player (team) selects the light colored armed forces to be in command of throughout the game. Each player places their playing pieces on the game board in their starting positions. When ready, the players take alternating turns moving their playing pieces one by one about the board, either to an unoccupied square or to an opponent occupied square, and in the latter case, capturing opponent’s playing piece from that square as only one playing piece may occupy any given square at any single moment in time. Once a playing piece is captured, it is permanently removed from the game. The playing pieces can only move along straight, unobstructed paths, unless stated otherwise. The playing pieces that can Go Under or Go Over can jump (go around) other playing pieces. Jumping playing pieces does not result in their capture. Only one playing piece may be moved on a single turn and the player (team) with the dark colored playing pieces always moves first. The players must move on their turn. A turn is officially over when a player physically releases contact with one of their playing pieces at a new position. Play evolves, turn by turn, from the beginning of the war through the game’s eventual completion with each player analyzing the current battlefield situation, adjusting their game plan accordingly and executing commands (movements of the playing pieces) in a collective effort to achieve the game’s objective."

This game is really fun.  We had a lot of fun with the game, and will definitely pull it out again.  Make sure you go check out the Commander-In-Chief website!

One (1) of my Agents is going to receive a Commander-In-Chief Board Game!   Make sure you enter below!

Tetragon!

Hello Agents!

How is everyone today?  It was pretty chilly this morning, but it warmed up a little later on in the day.  I have another game to share with you that I received at the Chicago Toy and Game Fair!  I met Aaron at the Tetragon Booth, and he gave me a Tetragon for review.

This is a really fun game!  My little sister and I sat down and played this together.  First we pulled out the pieces and set out the board...

Then we read the instructions together.  These are really simple, and easy to understand...

Of course we had to have a snack with our game time :)

These tasted GREAT!
The object of the game is to be the first player to create two Tetragons (Squares).  I played with the Maple Colored Pieces and the other M. played with the white pieces...

M. made a Tetragon (square)!  YAY!!  Then I made a Tetragon (square)!

And... M. is the winner - She made two Tetragons (squares) before I did!  I almost made it, but not before she did.

Tetragon is a really fun game.  Make sure you visit their website.  You can also Like them on Facebook to stay up with their latest news!

I received no monetary compensation for this review.  I did receive product for review purposes only.  All quotes are taken from the Tretragon website.

PERPLEXUS TWIST is Fun!

Hello Agents!

How is everyone?  We are all doing great!  We are starting to pack for our yearly trip to Florida (we leave in  a little less than two weeks), and getting everything scheduled.

I met Allan at the Perplexus Booth at the Chicago Toy and Game Fair, and he gave me a PERPLEXUS TWIST for review.  This is a really neat item.  My family has owned the Perplexus Jr. before, but this one has a new "Twist"!  Really - there are traps, cliffhangers, dead ends and more, and the only way you can get past them, is to twist the handles and realign the tracks within the shell.

"Grab the handles and TWIST to get a feel for the new power we've given you!  You alone control the alignment of the tracks.  Roll the ball to a starting point.  As you follow the track you will soon be stuck on the edge of a cliff.  Carefully twist the handles to create the path.  Watch for many great obstacles as you make your way to "The Perch".

My family LOVES the new PERPLEXUS TWIST!  It so funny to watch somebody sitting there trying to reach "The Perch", and then they make a mistake so they have to start all over again.  They may get irritated at the "TWIST", but they always keep trying over and over again.

PERPLEXUS TWIST is a great item.  Who wouldn't love to receive one?!?  Make sure you go Like them on Facebook and Follow them on Twitter to stay up with their latest news.

I received no monetary compensation for this review.  I did received a PERPLEXUS TWIST for review purposes only.  All thoughts and opinions are mine.  All quotes are taken from Perplexus.

Frenzy Is Great! Review/Giveaway

Hello Agents!

How is everyone?  We are all doing great.  Today was a really nice day and pretty warm, so we worked in the backyard and let the dogs out for a while.  They loved it!  Since it has been getting colder we have been playing games inside as a family each night instead of volleyball in the backyard.  One night (and several times since:) we have played a new game we received from Kevin at the Chicago Toy and Game Fair called ...FRENZY!

Our family plays games almost every night -  we used to stay up until midnight at our Pastor's house playing games with their family.  We have one small bookshelf filled with games, and several shelves on a second bookshelf.  So yes, my family does enjoy having game time together.  :)

First, there are six decks of forty-eight cards each (2-6 players).  Each player takes one deck of cards (Red : Red faced Spider Monkey - Ateles paniscus, Banana Belly : White Bellied Spider Monkey - Ateles belzebuth, Sunshine : Black faced /Peruvian Spider Monkey - Ateles chamek, Cookie : White cheeked Spider Monkey - Ateles marginatus, Peanut : Brown Spider Monkey - Ateles hybridus, and Mitts : the Black handed /Geoffroy's Spider Monkey - Ateles geoffroyi.).

Each player should place five cards with the Spider Monkey face-up in a horizontal row in front of themselves.  Like this...

The object of Frenzy is "Spider Monkeys live in groups called bands, but break into smaller groups called troops during the day to find food including fruit, flowers, nuts, leaves, and sometimes even bugs and tree bark!  Be the first player to build a Spider Monkey troop by getting rid of your cards and yelling FRENZY!!"

To get rid of your cards you start with a tail...

And add numbers (all players can participate in each pile)...

Until you get to the number ten...

Then the first person (any player) to slap a "Head" card down on the stack of cards...

Gets that pile (which you set beside you until the end of the game)!  The first person that gets rid of all os his/her cards yells "FRENZY" and is the winner!  That means that you have played all cards including the 4 "Head" cards - you created a troop of Spider Monkeys!

When we pulled out this game, we knew it was one we would enjoy.  Our family loves the fast, beat somebody else to it type of games.  Our whole family really enjoyed Frenzy, and when we played it with some friends of ours they commented on how fun it was!  Okay,  have been offered a discount for all my Agents.  You have a special price of $14.99 (from $19.95) plus s&h!  you just have to call (630) 487-0270 and mention the coupon code : Family Fun.

One of my Agents is going to receive one Frenzy Game!  Wow - make sure to enter below!

ChiTAG! Free Family Weekend Pass!

Hello Agents!

How many of you have ever been to Chicago?  Have any of you ever visited ChiTAG?  I have!  My family has attended the past two years!

ChiTAG was founded in 2003 by Mary Couzin.  It is the largest toy and game fair in the US!  It runs Sat. Nov. 17th and Sun. Nov. 18th at the Navy Pier Festival Hall in Chicago.

ChiTAG is a lot of fun for the whole family!  Everyone has games/toys set up, and they will show you how to play them.  Last year at Legos' booth they had A LOT of legos dumped all over the floor (on a carpet!) so that you could build with them!  They also had a couple of their people ready to play with the kids.  My little sister really enjoyed that.  We are planning to meet some friends in Chicago this year, and attend together.  I am sure their children will love it!

They have several fun things planned for the day and one of them is... "Encourage Young Inventors with Simple Prototyping Supplies - Encouraging children to design their own board games and card games fosters imagination, creativity and and develops problem solving skills and resourcefulness. Once they have a solid idea for a game in terms of mechanics, a good working prototype makes the whole experience more memorable and fun. Creating a prototype that is functional and beautiful doesn't have to cost a lot of money. Simple craft supplies, found items, and repurposed materials can make a child's ideas come to life. These practical ideas equip children to make their own customized game components with relative ease."  The 6th Annual Young Inventor Challenge will be happening Saturday, November 17, 2012 at Chicago's Navy Pier. You can click here to view the rules and requirements for this competition.

ChiTAG has offered to send one of my Agents a Free Weekend Family Pass!  If you don't win this week, come back and try again next week!

NOTICE : You must be able to attend Nov.17th/Nov.18th at the Navy Pier in Chicago.

This giveaway will end on Sat. Nov. 13th. 2012.
